Eno was keen to pursue his art education further. Having gained his foundation qualification from Ipswich in the summer of 1966, he wanted to try for his Diploma in Fine Arts (a fine art ‘degree’ as such didn’t exist). He was now old enough to apply for a full County Council bursary, a princely £330 per annum (about a third of his father’s annual wage). The world was his oyster. Tom Phillips used a similar, and visually even more refined, approach to the compositional score. Eno’s London trips became more frequent in 1966, usually with Sarah at his side.
