Echtermeyer withdrew from coeditorship, and the journal was renamed the Deutsche Jahrbücher. A consequence of this reorganization was the restructuring of the team of collaborators. While contributors like David Friedrich Strauss, Moriz Carriere, Eduard Meyen, or Adolf Rutenberg withdrew or were eliminated, new collaborators joined, such as Bruno and Edgar Bauer, Moritz Fleischer, and Karl Nauwerck. This change was accompanied by a process of ideological radicalization, most clearly evidenced in the theses of Ludwig Feuerbach and Bruno Bauer.
